Join us at the State Fair

Hello,

The Minnesota Green Roofs Council (MGRC) is seeking volunteers to promote green roofs at the
2009 Minnesota State Fair.  If you are receiving this email, it is because
you either volunteered at the State Fair last year or because you are on the
MGRC email distribution list.

Last year, one million people visited the Minnesota State
Fair and of those over million people, 350,000 visited the Eco-Experience
building (the facility in which the Minnesota Green Roof Council is on
display).  The MGRC booth was incredibly popular – we had a mini
green roof on display planted with all sorts of sedums and native plants that
people could view at eye-level, there was an interactive green roof model for
kids and there were a number of posters highlighting the numerous benefits of
green roofs.

This year, we are planning on presenting most of the same
information and are looking for volunteers to help us promote green roofs in
4-hour shifts.  As a volunteer you will be responsible for the following
tasks:

Turn on MGRC computer and open slideshow
illustrating local green roof projects

-        
Watering the mini green roof (as
needed)

-        
Talking to people about the green
roof display, the benefits of green roofs and directing people to the MGRC
web-site where they can get more detailed information

It’s a pretty easy job and it’s very inspiring
to see the enthusiasm displayed by everyone attending the fair.  Entry
into the State Fair will be provided by the MGRC to all volunteers.  In
order to coordinate the transfer of tickets, we are requesting that people sign up for their slot by August 13, 2009. 
More detailed information regarding talking points, responsibilities, parking,
etc… will be emailed to volunteers the week of August 17th.
