Opportunity to Serve on the Minnesota Green Roofs Council Board

Want to help protect and improve water quality in Minnesota’s rivers and lakes? Do you believe in restoring green space in the urban environment?

The Minnesota Green Roofs Council (MGRC) is the state’s only non-profit organization dedicated to promoting green roofs for their environmental and economic benefits. The Council is seeking people interested in serving on our board.

In 2016, the MGRC plans to continue our successful education and outreach programs: the annual summer bike tour of green roofs and bringing our trailer, a green roof display on wheels, to events like the Minnesota State Fair and the Minnehaha Watershed’s annual Minnehaha Creek Cleanup for community education.

We are also planning new service and advocacy efforts. One we are especially excited about is an Adopt-a-Roof program to help government agencies and non-profit organizations that need hands-on assistance maintaining their green roofs. We will also reach out to other organizations to partner with us to go after support from the Clean Water Fund for new initiatives, like green roof performance monitoring in the Twin Cities and pilot programs for green roof incentives.
